Let’s call it selling therapy.
I truly believe in retail therapy, after a long day there is something that calms my frustrations when purchasing something new. Not purchasing anything I need, but simply something I want. Recently, with our change of mindset, and 2012 goal of traveling the world I have found a great satisfaction in cleansing or as I say selling therapy.
We have gone through our apartment and decided what we will be keeping, selling and giving away over the next six months, and the next step is to start selling what we want to get rid of. Craigslist has been our easy go-to option. It is free to post items and we don’t have to bother with shipping anything out. We have quickly shed almost $1,000 of stuff, and we can’t even remember everything that is now gone (shows how much we used them).
Every time something walks out the door and into the hands of a new owner I get a rush. My body takes a deep breath and I instantly feel better. My house is that much less cluttered and we are one more step towards our goal. We take great care of our stuff and I am proud to pass it on to someone else who will enjoy it. I have begun to already think about our next apartment when we return in 2013. I expect our outlook to be much more minimal and to actively avoid accumulating more.
In the meantime we will focus on selling therapy. Enjoying the high that we get with every email from someone interested in buying something we are selling, looking around our apartment with less clutter, and knowing every item gone is one more step closer to our RTW trip!
Have you felt the excitement that comes with selling therapy?

Selling/donating therapy does feel good……It’s like working out and watching the pounds fall off!! 🙂
