One small pewter heart can move to you a place of humbleness, put a smile on a rainy Monday, comfort you while in the hospital and encourage you to keep going on mile 19 of a marathon.
I was blessed to have Jeanne Malnati enter my life this year and she introduced me to a simple concept but a monumental movement that is just starting to take off. It is encouraging people all over the world to engage each other in encouraging ways and get outside of your comfort zone to let others know you care or that they have impacted you. I carry my heart with me always reminding me that no matter how small an interaction is, it can make a big impact on someone’s life.
These hearts which started in Chicago have reached as far as South Africa and I truly believe that they will keep moving around the world touching people hearts. I have started carrying a small bag around with me and when I hear that little tug on my heart while I am out and about, I take action. I walk up to the person I see who goes out of their way to help another, or look as if they have had a rough day and need a moment of uplifting – you would be surprised how much these little pewter hearts have to say!
Stay tuned for personal stories I put on my blog about who touched my life over our travels. Also check out spreadinghearts.org and read about others’ stories and experiences with the hearts. I highly encourage you to purchase your own bag of hearts and make it a goal to pay attention to your surroundings and reach out to those around you who move you.
